As a longtime resident of Arroyo Grande, I know this is a special place. From personal experience, I can tell you that we are a community that takes care of each other in good times and bad. I feel lucky to be in a position to be able to give back to a city that has given me so much.
I first moved to AG while attending Cal Poly in 2003. After moving to Nipomo in 2010 in order to be able to jump into the housing market, my husband, Dan and I returned to Arroyo Grande in 2015 and are so glad to be able to raise our family here. Our oldest son attended Ocean View, Paulding, AGHS, and recently graduated from SFSU. Our younger children are going into sixth and first grades at Harloe Elementary school.
After graduating from Cal Poly, I worked for the Clark Center for the Performing Arts for nine years before moving on to other positions at a local marketing agency, Cal Poly and UC Berkeley. My professional experience has allowed me to work with a lot of different public and private entities and engage with numerous members of our community.
Although my day job is in marketing and communications, my real joy lies in volunteering in our community. I have served in a variety of positions including with city commissions, the South County Chamber of Commerce, local and national nonprofits, political and advocacy organizations, community event planning and management, and more including:
Arroyo Grande Planning Commission (Chair)
Clark Center for the Performing Arts (Vice President)
National Nurses United (District Leader)
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Ethics Committee
SLO County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls
Stone Soup Organization Committee
SLO County Democratic Party
Leadership SLO Class 30
Arroyo Grande Parks and Recreation Commission
Consumer Watchdog
March of Dimes, March for Babies (organizer)
Marian Regional Medical Center
Wilshire Hospice
Hospice SLO
South County Chamber of Commerce
And more.
As a millennial and mother of elementary school-aged children, I hope to bring a different perspective to the Council and represent the wants and needs of families in our city, as well as those of different economic backgrounds. I look forward to the opportunity to work with our city’s staff and other council members to build a brighter future for all citizens of Arroyo Grande.
